In addition to the basic Concealed Carry Firearms Course, we also offer
additional training in various aspects of marksmanship, advanced handgun,
tactical shotgun and rifle, survival and land navigation, emergency
preparedness, counter-terrorism awareness, Security Specialist Training, and
Critical Infrastructure Protection.

ADVANCED HANDGUN
The concealed carry firearms course, while the requirement for obtaining a
Concealed Carry Endorsement, is a very basic course in handgun
marksmanship and safety, with a minimum of tactical instruction.

The Advanced Handgun Course picks up where concealed carry stopped,
going in depth into the topics of instinct shooting, shoulder point shooting,
deployment of concealed weapons from various forms of concealed carry,
shooting from different positions, low light shooting and stress combat.

We will also develop for the student a meaningful practice program to allow the
shooter to make the best of limited practice time and ammunition.

Range time will be devoted to the dynamics of moving and shooting,
addressing multiple targets at different distances, moving tactically from cover,
and the day will culminate in using all these skills in a tactical exercise.

This is a one day course (12 hours).
The cost is $150.00. Ammunition and
equipment requirements are 300 rounds of handgun ammunition, a minimum
of three magazines or three speedloaders for the handgun, a secure type of
holster system that will keep the handgun and related equipment secure on
the shooter during strenuous activity. Hearing and eye protection is also
required.

SECURITY SPECIALIST
Security, like most professions continues to change during rapid growth. Since
September 11, 2001, an increased emphasis has been directed toward the
field of security.  More importantly, money has become available from a variety
of sources to finance security operations that would have gone wanting in the
past, This 40-hour course prepares the student for work as a security
specialist. Topics taught include: Site Security, Loss Prevention, Risk
Management, Legal Aspects of Security, Patrol Procedures, Internal Threats to
the Organization, Alarm Systems, Blood Borne Pathegenes, Ethics and
Professionalism, Human Relations, Loss Control, Safety, Report Writing, Fire
Protection, The Terrorist Threat.
The cost of this course is $475.00. The
course can be scheduled for groups of six or more, to be conducted in two
20-hour blocks over two weekends.

CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE PROTECTION
It is bad enough when utilities and conveniences we depend on daily are
unavailable to us, due to natural causes. It is usually only a matter time until
utilities, water and communications are restored to us, so that we can get on
with our busy lives. However, if we lose these aspects of Critical Infrastructure
due to some man-made disaster, we can expect to be without them for a much
longer period of time, and they may never be restored to their former capacity
because of the design and impact of the devastation.

In these uncertain times, we have to be proactive in the protection of our
Critical Infrastructure. This course, an advanced Security Specialist training
program, addresses what to look for, how to defend against various threats,
and what items of Critical Infrastructure are most likely to be targeted by
terrorists, foreign or domestic.

Most commonly identified as Critical Infrastructure include: Agriculture,
banking/finance, chemicals and hazardous waste, defense industrial base,
energy, emergency services, food, government, information and
telecommunications, transportation, postal and shipping services, public health
and water.  Also identified as key assets include: National Monuments and
icons, Nuclear power plants, dams, government facilities and commercial
assets.

During this course, we will detail how to conduct a threat assessment of the
facility ; Development of a plan to address the threats; training the rapid
response team; and plan for recovery after an incident.

We will also discuss the threat to such soft targets as schools, churches, large
outdoor public gatherings, stadiums and arenas, and performance venues.
For all of these areas we will discuss potential indicators of terrorist activities,
common vulnerabilities, and protective measures that are recommended.

We will discuss Improvised Explosive Devices, Suicide Bombers, and
Response to Bomb Threats. We will also discuss Active Shooter strategies and
tactics to deal with an intruder in any type of facility.

This is a two-day course that will be conducted in the classroom on the first
day, and will culminate in practical exercises on Day Two that will require the
attendee to conduct surveillance, review surveillance media for threat
indicators, development of a plan to protect a site, formation of a response
team and deployment of the team to a simulated threat on the facility.

The cost of this course is $250.00 per attendee, with a minimum of four and
maximum of eight to make up a class. It will be conducted on a Saturday and
Sunday.

TACTICAL SHOTGUN
The effective use of a shotgun in a tactical environment relies on the shooter's
ability to manipulate the shot gun, manage ammunition, and hit the target.

The shotgun is not just a weapon that can be pointed in the general direction
of the target, but is a precision weapon, capable of not only highly accurate
shooting at distances up to 100 yards, but it is also a very versatile weapon
that can be used not only as a rifle with slug ammunition, but can be used to
deploy multiple projectile munitions, chemical agents, other less lethal
munitions, and can be used to take down doors in dynamic entry situations.

During this course, we will become familiar with how and why the shotgun
works, how to properly maintain the shotgun, advantages and disadvantages
of various after-market accessories, the use of the shotgun in conjunction with
a secondary weapon, the use of the shotgun in searching open areas, or
confined spaces, addressing multiple threats and multiple distances, fighting
from cover, moving from cover, tactical reloading and long range
marksmanship with the shotgun.

This is an eight hour course, and
the cost is $150.00. There is a minimum of
four attendees  and maximum of eight attendees required for this class.

TACTICAL RIFLE
This course is designed for the student who has both the need and authority
to operate in a tactical environment.

The course will address the tactical mindset that is basic to winning in a
combat situation. The care and maintenance of the patrol rifle will be
discussed in detail. Battle Sight Zeroing (BZO) will be discussed and
accomplished on each student's rifle prior to marksmanship live fire.

We will also discuss such combat techniques as the deployment of the rifle in
room clearing and other close quarters combat environments; the advantages
and disadvantages of various after-market accessories to the patrol rifle;
speed reloading; transition from primary to secondary weapons.

This is a 12 hour course, two-thirds of which will be on the range. The
cost of
this course is $250.00
and requires a minimum of four students and
maximum of eight students to make the class.

TERRORISM AWARENESS AND PREPAREDNESS
The hardening of our communities against potential disaster, whether
Natural or Man-Made.

This course is designed to prepare the participant to join the ever-increasing
group of Americans that recognize the legitimacy of the terrorist threat, the
possibility that a terrorist event can happen here in the middle of the
Heartland, how to recognize a possible threat situation before it happens and
what to do about it, and how to mitigate the effect on you as a victim and your
family in the event of an actual terrorist event or a natural disaster.

This is an eight hour course that deals with the various sources of threats to
our communities both Natural and Man-Made. We will discuss how recognize
these threats and what to do to prepare for them, both long term in pre-event
planning, and during the event in the short term, tactical situation to assure the
best likelihood of survival and recovery.

Also included in the training will be basic first aid and CPR, emergency
communications, search and rescue (all forms) to account for missing persons
following an event, and preparation of an individual and/or family response kit
to see you through the event and the days that follow, until government
assistance can be on scene. Because this information is vital to the everyone,
we here at
Beardslee Training Site are offering this class at NO COST to the
participant. We will need a minimum of six and maximum of 12 participants to
hold this class.

If you are prepared for the worst case scenario, you are prepared for
everything else.

BEARDSLEE TRAINING SITE
RECENT CLASSES
The BTS classroom is set up for an AR-15  familiarization
class taught in May, 2010.
Mike Soellner helps students with the care and cleaning of
the AR-15, showing the workings of the bolt carrier group.
Randy Babb supervises the live fire zeroing phase of the
Battle Sight Zero (BZO) instruction. Students in this
course learn the AR-15 from the muzzle to the butt-stock,
and when finished are ready for the Tactical Rifle Course.
Our next Tactical Rifle Course is scheduled for October,
2010.
Once zeroing is completed, firing from different position
and distances is the order of the day.
The battle rifle should be zeroed for accuracy between
Close Quarter Battle (CQB) distances, out to 300 meters.
Here I supervise the students trying their weapons at 50
meters from the prone position.
As in last year's Advanced Handgun Course, shooters
were taught firing from various positions and situations,
instinctive shooting (a key skill to winning in combat), and
many other skills designed to give the graduate the best
opportunity so be successful if confronted by an armed
assailant.
Just because you are down, doesn't mean you are out of
the fight. The Tactical Handgun Course (as with all our
courses) addresses the Warrior Mindset, which drives
the shooter to win in an armed confrontation, Here in last
year's course, we have taken a punch and are down, and
the assailant keeps coming. Dan McMichael shows you
that you don't have to be a victim, Fight Back. In order to
be able to do that you need training and practice. We
offer these life-saving skills at BTS.
